Discover, create, develop; the process of innovation at SK Foods is a recipe for success.

At the heart of the process, the New Product Development team constantly strive to stay ahead of food trends and provide customers with new and original product options. To create their recipe for innovation they keep one eye firmly on the future.

For an insightful and all rounded awareness of the wider marketplace lots of sources are used. Not only trend analysis from official sources like The Food People and Kantar World Panel but also from trade publications and magazines such as The Grocer and Good Food Magazine and many in-between! They check out what’s hot on the restaurant scene, street food and foodie events and most importantly they ask people.

SK Foods have made significant investment in providing the highest quality facilities, installing a state of the art kitchen and tasting suite where the initial creativity takes place with help from a dedicated team of Innovation and Development Chefs. Using the knowledge gained from the wider team, the chefs get to work to craft superior tasting foods, working closely with the Technical team to ensure the best quality and importantly, how this translates to production.

For a team that is genuinely passionate about food, it certainly seems they have every angle covered, but the results speak for themselves. In the past year there have been 135* new product launches, countless creations from the development kitchen and this Christmas season will be their busiest yet with more products launched than ever before.

Taste and quality are key with not only new ingredients being sourced but also improvements to existing ingredients being sought throughout the year. This year the concentration has been on American and modern Asian ingredients. Also in the spotlight has been a concentration on more authentic Indian spices, ponzu, sushi rice and amchoor powder. In addition there has been some interesting development dishes with recipes using smoked cheeses, beetroot, kale and butternut squash.

Looking ahead, innovative products are already in development for Christmas 2016 and beyond. But most importantly, the team’s tried, tested and tasted recipe for innovation continues!

*  Product launches 1st January 2015 to 21st December 2015 including re-launches on packaging and new recipes.
