Taste of London

Taste of London is an event held twice a year, in London, and is widely regarded to be the food festival of choice for foodies offering an insight into some of the capital’s most popular restaurants.

Needless to say, for us, it was an event not to be missed!

This year’s event was held in Regent’s Park where some of the well-known restaurants from across the city had set up their stall. Bao, Bubbledogs, Cinnamon Bazaar, Freak Scene and Bombay Bustle were all amongst the offerings this year.

Christmas period

Christmas period

SK Chilled Foods has just experienced the busiest Christmas period in its 30-year history.

In 2017, we produced over 50 separate Christmas party food products for supermarkets, covering Oriental, Indian, Med, Tex-Mex and traditional cuisines.

In total, 3.3 million cases of chilled food were delivered to supermarkets in the 12 weeks leading up to the end of the Christmas ‘season’ on 30th December.

New Product Development Technologists

Four New Product Development Technologists recently started working for SK Chilled Foods.

They are Katherine Lenderyou, Michael Thackeray, Lydia Akrami and Juliet Watson.

The quartet have each been assigned their own supermarket customers and will be involved in every aspect of developing new food products from the idea stage to the shop floor.

SK People – Stephanie Bell

Stephanie Bell compares the process of pitching food to supermarkets to an audition process.

She says there are some similarities between her current role as an New Product Development (NPD) Manager for SK Chilled Foods and the audition process which an Actor would undertake.

That’s because she often finds herself in front of an audience at an ‘audition’, but in her case, it’s food which is bidding for the leading role.

It’s a good job Emma Bell has Sky+ with a lot of memory, because she needs it for all the food-related shows she records.

From Great British Menu to Masterchef, her planner is always crammed full and that’s not just because she enjoys watching cooking shows.

The main reason is that in her role as a New Product Development Manager for SK Foods, she is always looking for inspiration for “that next big thing”.

It’s World Chocolate Day, and while here at SK Foods we make a whole host of delicious savoury snacks, we just can’t resist a sweet treat!

Chocolate is the ultimate comfort food and the first thing we reach for when we’re stressed, when life has taken a turn for the worse and or need cheering up. There is also a claim that it’s a great aphrodisiac as it contains the same chemical that your brain creates when you’re falling in love!
