A £1 million production facility upgrade is being carried out by SK Chilled Foods as demand for our products continues to grow – bringing the total we have invested over the last five years to £10 million.

The work is being carried out at our sites at South Bank and the Riverside Park Industrial Estate, Middlesbrough. It forms part of plans to increase our £55 million turnover over the next few years.

This work includes adding more chilling capacity and improving access to areas where food ingredients and packaging are delivered to the facilities.

Jeremy Faulkner, Managing Director of SK Chilled Foods, said:

“This latest investment will enable us to further increase capacity at our sites, which is essential given the growing demand for our products from the large supermarket chains and customers in other sectors, including food service.

“This will bring the total money we have spent on our facilities in the last five years to over £10 million, at the same time as creating dozens of new jobs for local people.

“It is important we retain our position as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of chilled and frozen snack foods, and one of the ways we are doing this is by continually investing in our facilities, our people and innovation.

“So for example, the new facility we opened in 2014, which is adjacent to our existing site in South Bank, enabled us to introduce a unique process for the creation of filled potato shells and skins.

“It is through investing in state-of-the-art facilities and unique manufacturing processes that we hope will keep us ahead of the competition.”
