We’re impressed, in a B-list kind of way, with the line-up of Celebrity Masterchef 2015.

Competing for the 2015 title include Sarah Harding (Girls Aloud), Chesney Hawkes (the one and only), Keith Chegwin (take your pick but we liked Cheggars Plays Pop) and Strictly Come Dancing star Natalie Lowe.

We will be glued to our screens to see which of the 20 celebs with marginal cooking skills will be following in the steps of previous winners Sophie Thompson (2014), Ade Edmondson (2013) and Lisa Faulkner (2012).

Ok, we are being a bit harsh using the word marginal as the show always throws up a few really good ‘home’ cooks who are obviously competing to win and not just to try to revive their flagging careers.

Lisa Faulkner has gone on to make a new career for herself in the cookery world, Ade Edmondson had already made programmes about cooking proving he knew what he was doing and Sophie Thomson was already a great home cook.

Anyway, regardless of how good, or bad, even though it has only been on a few weeks, we are already hooked and are glued to every episode to watch the invention test, the relay invention test, a mass-catering challenge and a two-course meal for guest judges and that round where they try not to muck things up for actual paying customers in a professional restaurant kitchen.

Early indications suggest Chesney may be the one to beat, but we are going to take a punt and chose someone we haven’t even seen cook yet, Arlene Phillips.

We believe you need to keep things simple, so hopefully our picture of a lovely beef burrito will give the contestants some inspiration.

Let’s cook!
