If you are in one of the large UK supermarkets and you see someone rearranging the shelves in the chilled aisle who is not a member of staff, chances are it will be Lydia Akrami.

That’s because our NPD Manager is a perfectionist when it comes to our products.

She explains: “I get a real buzz when I see the food we make on supermarket shelves and I have been known to stop and do a bit of shelf tidying if they are not displayed 100% correctly!!”

Lydia joined SK as a Food Technologist in 2017, having joined us after completing her university degree.

She was promoted to NPD Manager in January 2021 and in this role, she is the main day-to-day contact with one of our supermarket customers.

It’s a wide-ranging role covering everything from taking initial briefs on new products through to the ‘holy grail’ of seeing food we devised in our development kitchen being sold by supermarkets.

Lydia, 27, says: “I really enjoy my job. Every day is different and it’s particularly exciting working on new products and projects.

“I have been passionate about food from an early age and my A-Levels and degree were all chosen with a career in the industry in mind, so it couldn’t have worked out better for me.”
